Christmas Post prayer list

Happy Monday to all of you in cyberspace! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving...Molly and I really enjoyed the time we were able to spend with my family in Michigan.

I'm excited about The Christmas Post coming up next week. I hope you are too! I thought I'd use today's entry to list some specific things you can pray for!

Please spend the next week and a half praying along with me for:

C: CHRIST to shine through everything we do and say...our goal in this program is to tell His story and proclaim His glory...nothing less and nothing else.

H: HEALTH for performers...it's that time of year when little sicknesses and bugs make the rounds...pray for strong voices and healthy singers, especially with two dress rehearsals and two shows in a week's time.

R: REMEMBERING the over 2300+ lines in this year's musical. The cast has put a lot of work into memorization; pray for them that it will pay off during the shows.

I: INVITATION...the most important part of the program. Pray that the Lord gives Pastor Dan the words to say as he wraps up the show with a clear presentation of Christ and the gospel.

S: SNOW-FREE day...this one may seem silly, but the weather can affect turnout. Pray for safe driving conditions and that preciptation won't be a factor in people deciding "weather" or not to attend. Sorry, bad pun :)

T: TIME management...for me and everyone else involved in the program who is sacrificing their time to help this outreach be a success for the Lord. The next week and a half will be extremely busy...pray that we are able to get everything done we need to, both in the program and in the rest of our lives.

M: MOST Wanted List...pray through the names. Pray that every person will be invited...and pray that they'll come.

A: ALL the little projects to get done...decorating, typing, memorizing, organizing, cleaning, memorizing, advertising, memorizing again :) Lots of preparation...

S: SOUND SYSTEM...this is a big one. Our musical is big enough we have to rent extra microphones, and it's always "fun" trying to get all the mics to work properly together without any feedback...pray that none of the sound/lighting will be an issue or distraction next weekend.

12 days until the first show! Thanks in advance for your prayer support between now and then! I appreciate it so much!

A rare weekend in sports

I know a few of you were watching some college football game in Columbus Saturday...Ohio State, I think it was? So you may have missed the incredibly rare weekend in sports. All of my favorite teams won. All of them.

It has been a struggle this year just to get Purdue and the Buccaneers (my two favorite football teams) to win the same weekend. I'll get all excited about the Boilers getting a victory Saturday, and then the Bucs go out and do absolutely nothing on Sunday...or vice versa. So imagine my delight when, between Friday night and Sunday night:

The Los Angeles Lakers went 2-0.
Purdue's football team beat Indiana (you talk about a real college football rivalry, there it is...THE OLD OAKEN BUCKET...what a coveted trophy...but I digress :)
The Buccaneers beat the Redskins.
Cedarville's men's basketball team went 2-0.
Cedarville's women's basketball team went 2-0.
Purdue's men's basketball team won.
Purdue's women's basketball team went 2-0.

11 games, 11 wins. Wish it happened every weekend.

Okay, on to the rest of my life:

-It seems like it's been forever since I posted on here. I really did try to yesterday, but the blogger site was down. Oh well.

-Pie and Praise is tonight (7 pm). Two of my favorite things in the world. Pie...and praise...

-Molly and I leave for Michigan tomorrow to celebrate Thanksgiving in Battle Creek. I'm very excited about that...it'll be nice to spend a few days in a row with my family.

-Tomorrow night at my home church in Battle Creek, we'll be having...Pie...and Praise...did I mention those are two of my favorite things? My diet officially re-starts on Monday the 27th :)

-Christmas Post....first show is only 18 days away. Please invite everyone you know. That's the whole point :) I really appreciate everyone who is involved or has helped over the past few months...continue to pray for us!

That's about all I can think of. I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Tim

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below,
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.

I have a new picture!

It has been some time since my last entry. Sorry for my slothfulness. It has been a very full couple of weeks. We had such a tremendous time in New Orleans. This was the second trip for our church. There was a total of eleven of us and God answered so many prayers. There was a wonderful spirit of camaraderie among us. Everybody seemed to have a mind to work. We gutted out a four unit building in three days. But above all, we had several opportunities to share the gospel. We were able to share the gospel of God's grace to a dear lady who was walking by the work site Her name is Antoinette. She seemed very open and we gave her information about Berean Bible Church.

Since coming back, it has been full steam ahead for our Christmas musical. Apparently Tim was desperate for people to play parts in the drama because he recruited me for one. It's a big stretch; I'm playing the pastor. I'm praying that through it the gospel will be presented and sinners won to Christ.

Above all, God has been doing some wonderful things the last couple of months. People have been responding to the gospel, coming to Christ for the first time, and others obeying our Lord's command to be baptized. The Lord has been adding to our church family and I praise Him for this and all things. Well, I'd better run so I can work on my lines.

33 days

If you ask me what day it is, I might not know...but I know how many days are left until the first performance of The Christmas Post! Let me start my blog off by telling you what's going on with the production (since that's a big part of what's going on with my life), then I'll try to find some other things of interest to write about.

MOST WANTED LIST: I was thrilled with the great response to the Most Wanted List again this year. We already have over 300 names! It's not too late to add to it though; please send me the first names of (unsaved?) friends that you plan to invite to the Christmas musical. Then we as a church can pray with you that they will come. (And that you will have the boldness to invite them, which is often half the challenge!) Remember, The Christmas Post is an outreach, not just a nice Christmas show!

SET BUILDING: Sam and "the gang" got a lot done on Saturday; thanks to all of you who helped out! We have one more work day this Saturday from 9 am - 3 pm, and still have plenty of projects. Please come help for as long you can; building, decorating, you name it...there's lots to do!
TICKETS: Hopefully each of you got a pack of ten tickets at the service Sunday morning. We have plenty more, as well as some posters. Let me know if you need any of these.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Sanity is a big one :) Seriously though, please pray for everyone involved (including me), and especially the people putting in long hours of rehearsal to get ready. The next 33 days will be very strenuous, and they/we covet your prayers! Thanks!

Okay, enough of Christmas for today...what else is going on in the world?

My sister Tiffany did an excellent job in her senior piano recital on Saturday. It was nice to have a lot of my family in town for the weekend also; I hope a few of you got to meet my parents and grandparents Sunday morning at church!

Basketball season at Cedarville has started; I am a huge fan of the men's and women's teams, and I'm looking forward to seeing them play as much as possible this winter. Between their games, Tiffany's JV games, and Molly's 8th-grade team at Northwestern, I think I could spend every spare minute at a basketball game somewhere in Ohio! But there's this little thing called the Christmas mu...oh wait, I wasn't going to talk about that any more today! Please strike the previous sentence from the record :)

Wildlife alert...I found out this week I missed out on the excitement of a squirrel running rampant in my office. I think I'm glad I missed it...but now I'm looking around every corner....

Maybe the squirrel liked the bear rug?

On a more serious note, I thought Sunday morning's service was great as we focused our attention and hearts on Communion. The special music and the message really helped me concentrate and think anew about the importance of the Lord's Table.

Speaking of our church, please continue to pray faithfully for CBC. Our programs, our finances, our pastors, our members, our outreach, you name it; we want Cornerstone to be faithful to the Lord's will and accomplishing its mission here...this should be a constant on each of our prayer lists.

My dad's birthday is this Wednesday...since I know he reads this sometimes...happy birthday, Dad!

Okay, that's enough random thoughts for today; hopefully you'll get to hear from Dan and Sam soon. I'm glad you're reading!

Have a great week!
Tim

Random things I'm doing and have done this week

DOING:
I'm going to my sister's senior piano recital tomorrow. (It feels like just yesterday I was giving my senior recital; how can it be time for hers yet?

DONE:
I spent three "fun-filled" hours at Lowe's yesterday with Sam buying things for the Christmas musical set.

DONE:

I ran four rehearsals in a row Wednesday night: Sunday's music, choir for Christmas, choreography for Christmas, and Venture music.

DONE:

I went to see my sister's junior varsity basketball game in Columbus last night with my family.

DONE:

I made a detour to the Cheesecake Factory while in Columbus last night.

DONE:

I investigated the possibility of getting my cell phone surgically attached to my ear.

(Okay, the last part isn't true, but I've spent so much time on the phone over the last week working on details for the musical, it might not be such a bad idea) :)

DONE:

I wrote a blog entry.

The end.

P.S. Make sure you're on time for the service Sunday...you won't want to miss the ticket kickoff!
