My mother-in-law and I completely organized and cleaned my office...this may not seem noteworthy to you, but since it only happens once or twice a year, it's a major event to me!
I competed in the preliminary round of Springfield's Got Talent, and play in the finals Saturday afternoon at 1:00 (@ the Upper Valley Mall). I guess people enjoy upside-down piano playing...
Molly and I have kept ourselves busy with basketball stuff: open gyms, conditioning, meetings, etc. Practice starts in less than a month!
I'm spending a lot of free time watching football...notably the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who have a winning record) and Purdue (who's undefeated)...so that's been fun!
I finished all the casting for the Christmas drama; now I'm trying to get scripts handed out and help the choir start learning all the music!
Molly and I are headed to Cincinnati tonight for a ballgame -- we're going to try and watch the Cubs clinch the division championship!
I went to Cedarville yesterday to hear Keith & Kristyn Getty in the chapel service. The Gettys are modern hymnwriters; you may recognize their songs "The Power of the Cross" and "In Christ Alone". I came back (as I usually do) with several new song ideas and having thoroughly enjoyed a worship service that I wasn't responsible to lead!
Hope you're having a great week! See you all Sunday!
Molly and I spent part of last weekend in Louisville, Kentucky attending the 50th annual National Quartet Convention. What an experience! Here are a few of the highlights:
We got to see great artists perform: Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers, Greater Vision, Mark Lowry, Talley Trio, Florida Boys, etc.
We got to hear some great speakers: David Jeremiah, Jim Cymbala, etc.
We got to catch up with some old friends: Jonathan Martin, Ball Brothers, a few Cedarville grads, etc.
We got to stay in a hotel near the Louisville airport. I thought this was wonderful, but my wife informs me that airplanes took off every three minutes from 4-5 am on Friday. I have no idea what she's talking about.
We got to have dinner with my uncle who was also attending the convention...and we got to eat at Outback Steakhouse...talk about a great combination :)
We got to purchase an insane amount of music and CDs. I seriously brought back three shopping bags full of stuff.
We got to hear great groups I knew nothing about...like Hope's Call. (I'm listening to their a cappella CD right now!)
We got to experience Kentucky culture and Southern gospel culture in the same weekend...what a weird combination. I told Molly (and it's true) that you could write an entire book just about the sights, sounds, (and smells) of the exhibit hall. For instance, in the same room, you can find concert grand pianos for sale, motorhome tours, ice cream vendors, Christianese t-shirts, and of course, the obligatory live video camera pictures of earwax.
Yes, I said earwax.
I can't come up with any acceptable sentence to follow earwax, so I think I'm done. Guess you had to be there :) Have a great Monday! :)
As part of this year's Most Wanted List campaign, we're hoping to invite 1,000 friends to attend our Christmas program, The Richest Family in Town, in the 1,000 hours before the first performance. You can find more information about our production at: SpringfieldChristmas.com
